This is the Air Jordan IX (9) "Johnny Kilroy" edition. This Fall Jordan Brand is bringing back the AJ IX (9) with a vengeance dropping six new color ways that are all a part of the "Johnny Kilroy Pack". As most of you know after the 1992-1993 NBA season Michael Jordan retired from the game of basketball to follow his childhood dream of playing professional baseball. While he was away the Air Jordan line continued with the AJ IX (9) which he never wore on the hardwood. As legend goes (or Nike commercials at the time) multiple players were seen playing in independent leagues all over the country who shadowed MJ's game, performing Jumpman style dunks, switch hand layups, buzzer beaters and fade away shots. It was believed that these players were in fact MJ himself taking on alter-egos to fulfill his ongoing desire to play the game. One of these identities, named "Johnny Kilroy", actually played in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls and wore the number 4. This is a Air Jordan IX (9) "Johnny Kilroy" player exclusive edition that bears the number "4" on the heel and the inner tongue reads "Kilroy Kicks Butt".
